AI customer support agents that answer routine questions and hand the rest to your team
An AI support agent that answers on your website chat, WhatsApp and email using your own help docs and order data — and passes the conversation to a person, with full context, when it's unsure or the customer asks.
What is an AI customer support agent?
An AI customer support agent is an assistant that answers customer questions using your company's own information — help articles, policies, product details and, where allowed, order or account data. It replies in seconds on the channels your customers already use, follows the rules you set about what it may handle, and hands the conversation to a human with a summary when a question falls outside those rules. It is meant to take the repetitive part of support off your team, not to replace it.
Do you need an AI support agent?
These are the situations founders describe to us:
- "Half our tickets are the same ten questions, and the answers are already in our help centre."
- "Customers write at night and on weekends, and wait until Monday for a two-line answer."
- "Our team spends hours looking up order statuses and copying them into replies."
- "We're growing, and hiring another support person for routine questions doesn't feel right."
- "We tried a chatbot builder, but it only matches keywords and customers give up on it."
What do we build?
- A knowledge layer built from your help docs, FAQs, policies and product information, kept up to date as they change.
- Data lookups such as order status or plan details, read from your systems with only the permissions the agent needs.
- Channel connections for website chat, WhatsApp and email, so customers reach the same agent wherever they write.
- Rules and limits: topics the agent answers, topics it always passes on, and what it must never promise.
- Human handover into your helpdesk with the conversation and a short summary, so customers don't repeat themselves.
- A review view where your team can read conversations, correct answers and see what the agent couldn't handle.
How does an AI support agent handle a conversation?
- Message. A customer writes on any connected channel.
- Search. The agent finds the relevant parts of your knowledge base and, if needed, looks up their order or account.
- Check. It compares the request with your rules and how confident it is in the answer it found.
- Reply. If the question is in scope and the answer is clear, it replies — based only on your information.
- Hand over. If it's unsure, the topic is off-limits, or the customer asks for a person, it passes the conversation to your team with a summary.
Which tools can it connect to?
We connect the agent to the systems you already run. For example:
What's possible depends on each tool's API and your plan with that vendor, so we confirm the exact connections during the audit, before you commit.
How do you know if it's working?
We agree on how to measure success before launch, and track it from the first week:
- Resolution rate: the share of conversations solved without a person stepping in.
- First-response time: how quickly customers get a useful first answer.
- Handover quality: whether conversations passed to your team arrive with the right context.
- Customer rating: a simple satisfaction score after each conversation.
We don't promise numbers in advance. Results depend on your questions, your documentation and your customers, and the first weeks are for measuring and tuning.
What about human review and data privacy?
At the start, a person can approve answers before they're sent, or review a sample every day. As the results prove reliable, you decide how much to automate. Some topics — refunds above a limit, complaints, anything legal — can always go to a person.
The agent only sees the data it needs. API keys stay on the server, conversations are logged so you can audit them, and the workflows can run on self-hosted n8n when data has to stay on infrastructure you control. Which AI model processes the messages, and where, is agreed with you in the proposal.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
A first version on one channel typically takes 3–5 weeks. Setup starts at $2,500, and monthly care starts at $300 per month. AI model usage is paid to the model provider and grows with the number of conversations; we estimate it with you up front.
Monthly care covers keeping the knowledge base in sync with your docs, reviewing conversations the agent couldn't handle, adjusting rules, fixing broken connections and reporting on the metrics above. Payments for the build are milestone-based, and the launch includes one month of free bug fixing.
When is an AI support agent not a fit?
Good fit when…
- Many tickets repeat the same questions
- Your help docs and policies are written down
- Customers expect answers outside office hours
- Your team wants to focus on harder cases
Not a fit when…
- You get only a handful of messages a day
- Support is mostly emotional, legal or medical
- There's no written knowledge base to answer from
- Every reply needs a decision only you can make
Frequently asked questions
Can an AI support agent answer from our own help docs?
Yes. The agent searches your help articles, policies and product information for each question and answers only from what it finds there. When it can't find a clear answer, it says so or hands the conversation to your team instead of guessing.
What happens when the AI agent can't answer a question?
It hands the conversation to a person in your helpdesk, together with the full conversation and a short summary, so the customer doesn't have to repeat anything. You decide which topics always go to a person, such as complaints or refunds above a set amount.
Which channels can an AI support agent work on?
Most projects start with website chat, WhatsApp or email, and the same agent can serve all three. It can also connect to helpdesks such as Zendesk, Intercom or Freshdesk, depending on each tool's API and your plan with that vendor.
How much does an AI customer support agent cost?
At Webziper, setup starts at $2,500 and monthly care at $300 per month. AI model usage is paid separately to the model provider and depends on conversation volume. The price depends mainly on the number of channels and systems, and on whether the agent also reads order or account data.
How do you measure whether the support agent works?
We track the share of conversations resolved without a person, first-response time, the quality of handovers to your team, and customer ratings. These are agreed before launch and reviewed every month, and the first weeks are used to tune the agent rather than to promise numbers in advance.
