Zapier or Make to n8n migration: your automations moved, tested and running at a fixed cost
When the Zapier or Make bill grows with every task, or data has to stay on your own servers, we move your automations to n8n. We list what you have, rebuild what's worth keeping, run old and new side by side, and switch over only when the results match.
What is a Zapier or Make to n8n migration?
A migration to n8n is the rebuild of existing Zapier Zaps or Make scenarios as n8n workflows, followed by a controlled switch-over so nothing is lost in between. There is no reliable one-click converter between these tools, so each automation is rebuilt by hand. That is also the chance to merge duplicates, remove automations nobody uses and add the error handling the originals were missing.
Should you migrate to n8n?
- "Our Zapier or Make bill keeps growing as volume grows."
- "We're on a higher plan just for a few heavy automations."
- "Customer or financial data shouldn't pass through another cloud service."
- "We need logic or code steps the current tool makes awkward."
- "Dozens of Zaps were built by different people and nobody knows which still matter."
What's included in the migration?
- An inventory of every Zap or scenario: what triggers it, what it does, how often it runs and whether anyone still needs it.
- A migration plan that says which automations move, which are merged, which stay where they are and which are switched off.
- n8n set up self-hosted on a server you own, or on n8n Cloud, with credentials stored securely.
- Rebuilt workflows with error handling, retries and alerts, so failures are noticed instead of silently dropping data.
- A parallel run where old and new automations run side by side and the results are compared.
- Switch-over and clean-up: old automations turned off, documentation handed over, and the old plan downgraded or cancelled.
How does the migration work?
- Inventory. We go through your Zapier or Make account with you and list every active automation.
- Plan. You approve what moves, in what order, starting with the automations that cost the most to run.
- Rebuild. Each automation is rebuilt in n8n, tested with real data and documented.
- Parallel run. Where it's safe, old and new run together so the outputs can be compared before you rely on n8n.
- Switch. Old automations are turned off one group at a time, so a problem never affects everything at once.
When does moving to n8n pay off?
| Situation | Our usual advice |
|---|---|
| A few simple Zaps, small monthly bill | Stay where you are — migration won't pay for itself |
| High task volume driving a large bill | Migrate the heavy automations first |
| Sensitive data, compliance or client requirements | Self-hosted n8n is usually the reason to move |
| Complex logic, loops, code or AI steps | n8n handles these more naturally |
| Non-technical team builds its own automations | Consider keeping Zapier for those and moving only the heavy ones |
We'll tell you during the free call if a migration isn't worth it for you.
What are the risks, and how do we handle them?
The main risk is an automation that quietly stops doing something it used to do. The parallel run and a group-by-group switch-over are there to catch exactly that. The second risk is an app with a ready-made Zapier integration but no matching n8n node; in that case we connect through the app's API directly, which we check for every app during the inventory.
Self-hosting also moves responsibility: someone has to keep the server updated, backed up and monitored. That can be your team, n8n Cloud, or our n8n hosting and maintenance plan.
What do we migrate from and to?
We move automations from the common platforms to n8n:
The apps your automations connect — CRMs, spreadsheets, email, accounting, Bubble.io apps — stay the same; only the tool in the middle changes.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
A migration of a typical set of automations takes 1–4 weeks, depending on how many there are and how complex they are. Projects start at $1,000, and hosting plus maintenance starts at $200 per month. The fixed price comes after the inventory, once we know exactly what's moving.
Payments are milestone-based, and the launch includes one month of free bug fixing.
When is a migration to n8n not a fit?
Good fit when…
- Your automation bill grows with volume
- Data control or hosting location matters
- Automations need complex logic or AI steps
- You want error alerts and documentation
Not a fit when…
- You run a handful of simple Zaps on a small plan
- A non-technical team must edit automations daily
- Nobody can own hosting and you don't want n8n Cloud
- Your key apps have no API at all
Frequently asked questions
Can Zapier Zaps be imported into n8n automatically?
Not reliably. Zapier, Make and n8n use different building blocks, so each automation is rebuilt in n8n by hand. Rebuilding is also the moment to remove unused Zaps, merge duplicates and add error handling.
Is n8n cheaper than Zapier?
Often, at higher volume. Self-hosted n8n costs a server and its upkeep instead of a fee per task, so heavy automations stop getting more expensive with every run. For a few simple Zaps on a small plan, Zapier usually stays cheaper overall.
Will our automations stop during the migration?
No. Old automations keep running until the new n8n workflows have been tested and, where it's safe, run in parallel. Switching happens one group at a time.
What if an app has no n8n integration?
If an app has an API, n8n can connect to it through an HTTP request step even without a ready-made node. We check every app during the inventory, before the fixed price is agreed.
How much does a migration to n8n cost?
At Webziper, migration projects start at $1,000, with hosting and maintenance from $200 per month. The fixed price is set after an inventory of your current Zaps or scenarios.
