Sports Recruitment Platform: one Bubble.io app for web and mobile
A global recruitment platform for amateur and semi-professional sport. Players, clubs and support staff build profiles, clubs post roles, the right people get matched, and they chat directly, with no agents in between. We built both the web app and the native mobile app in Bubble.io, on one shared backend.

What does it do?
Recruitment in grassroots and semi-pro sport usually runs on word of mouth, generic job boards and CVs that get lost. This platform gives it one place built for sport. Players get seen by clubs, clubs recruit from a wider pool than their local area, and coaches, physios and analysts find roles that match their experience.
There are no recruiters or agents in the middle. Once the right people find each other, they talk directly.
Who uses it?
Three types of users, each with a different job to do on the same platform:
| User | What they do |
|---|---|
| Players | Build a sport profile, browse opportunities, get picked by clubs |
| Clubs | Post roles for players, coaches, physios and analysts, and recruit internationally |
| Support staff | Coaches, physios and analysts find roles that fit their experience |
Each user type has its own sign-up path and its own view of the platform. That's three sets of screens and permissions inside one app.
How is it built?
Everything runs on Bubble.io. The web app and the native mobile app are two front ends on one backend: the same profiles, roles, matches and messages, whichever device someone uses.
How does a connection happen?
Clubs post roles for any position they need, from players to physios and analysts. Talent browses them and builds a profile that the right clubs can find. When there's a match, both sides chat directly in the platform.
What made it complex?
- Three user types. Separate sign-up paths, profiles and permissions for players, clubs and support staff, all in one app.
- Two front ends, one source of truth. The web app and the native mobile app had to behave the same way on the same data.
- Direct chat. Conversations that work across devices, so a reply on the phone shows up on the web.
- International. Clubs and talent from different countries, at every level from grassroots to semi-pro.
Can Bubble.io build a web and mobile app together?
Yes. Bubble.io now builds native mobile apps alongside web apps, on the same database and backend workflows. For a two-sided platform like this, that means one team, one build and one place to fix things, instead of a web project and a separate mobile project that drift apart.
This approach fits when:
- Your users switch between desktop and phone and expect the same data on both
- You have several user types with their own profiles and permissions
- You want to launch on web and mobile without paying for two separate builds
Plan extra time when:
- You publish to the App Store and Google Play. Store reviews add their own requirements and waiting time.
- The mobile app needs device features that go beyond what Bubble's native mobile builder supports
We build platforms like this as Bubble.io development projects, usually starting from an MVP. For another mobile app we built in Bubble.io, see our Smart Price Tracker. If you're planning a marketplace or community platform, tell us what you're building.
Frequently asked questions
Can Bubble.io build a native mobile app?
Yes. Bubble.io builds native mobile apps for iOS and Android alongside web apps. The mobile app uses the same database and backend workflows as the web app, so both stay in sync without a separate backend.
Can a web app and a mobile app share one backend in Bubble.io?
Yes. In Bubble.io the web and mobile front ends can share one database and one set of backend workflows. Data created on one device, such as a profile update or a chat message, is immediately available on the other.
Can Bubble.io handle a platform with several user types?
Yes. Each user type, for example players, clubs and support staff, can have its own sign-up path, profile, pages and permissions inside one Bubble.io app, with privacy rules that control what each type of user can see.
Can you build in-app chat with Bubble.io?
Yes. Direct messaging between users can be built in Bubble.io with its database and real-time updates, so new messages appear without reloading. In a web and mobile setup, both front ends read the same conversations.
